Silica HR reagent 1 measure silica, the constituent that forms the hardest scale in a boiler and the one that limits how far a reverse osmosis plant can be pushed. Silica scale cannot be dissolved off in service, so it is controlled in advance rather than reacted to.

Why does silica limit reverse osmosis recovery?
Silica has a low solubility and forms a scale that will not clean off easily, so recovery has to stay below the point where it saturates in the concentrate stream.

Does this reagent work on its own?
Several photometric methods use two or three reagents in sequence. Check which components your method lists, and we will make sure the set is complete before it ships.

How should liquid reagents be stored?
Cool, dry and out of direct sunlight, with the cap firmly closed. Note the batch and expiry on the bottle, and work through the oldest stock first.
