Nitrite HR No. 2 tablets measure nitrite, which means two very different things depending on where you are standing. In a closed heating circuit it is a dosed corrosion inhibitor to be held above a minimum. In drinking water or a wastewater process it is an intermediate that signals incomplete nitrification.

Why does nitrite appear in a wastewater plant?
Nitrite is the halfway house between ammonia and nitrate. A nitrite figure that will not come down usually means nitrification is incomplete, often through low oxygen, low temperature or a shortage of alkalinity.

Photometer grade or rapid grade — which do I need?
Photometer grade is formulated for instruments that read a cuvette. If you work with a visual comparator or colour disc, ask us for the rapid-dissolving grade instead.

How should the tablets be stored?
Keep them sealed, cool and dry, and work through the oldest strip first. Once a strip is opened the tablets take up moisture, so use them promptly.
