Overview

Chlorine HR powder pillows measure chlorine at concentrations well above the normal residual band, using the iodometric route rather than DPD. This is the test for dosing solutions, shock treatments and hypochlorite strength, where a standard residual reagent would simply bleach out.

Why not use a DPD reagent at high chlorine levels?
DPD bleaches at high concentrations and can read low or blank. The high-range iodide method is designed for those levels and gives a reliable figure.

Why use powder pillows instead of tablets?
A pillow is a pre-measured dose in a sealed sachet, so there is nothing to weigh out and no part-used tablet strip. Where a method is only offered in powder form, the pillow is what the instrument expects.

How should powder pillows be stored?
Keep them cool and dry in their sealed sachets, work through the oldest box first, and open a pillow only at the moment you dose the sample.
