How does ammonia affect chlorination?
Chlorine reacts with ammonia to form chloramines before any free residual appears, so until breakpoint is passed the residual you measure is combined rather than free.

How should liquid reagents be stored?
Cool, dry and out of direct sunlight, with the cap firmly closed. Note the batch and expiry on the bottle, and work through the oldest stock first.
