Chloride in methanol reagent measure chloride, the conservative ion used to track salinity, seawater or brine intrusion and blowdown ratios. Because chloride is not removed by conventional treatment, it is the tracer of choice for working out how many times a cooling water has been concentrated.

How is chloride used to work out cycles of concentration?
Chloride passes through a cooling system unchanged, so dividing circulating chloride by make-up chloride gives the number of times the water has been concentrated.

Several photometric methods use two or three reagents in sequence. Check which components your method lists, and we will make sure the set is complete before it ships.

How should liquid reagents be stored?
Cool, dry and out of direct sunlight, with the cap firmly closed. Note the batch and expiry on the bottle, and work through the oldest stock first.
